How can we help?
Folio is a small app, made with care. If something isn't working, or you're just not sure how a thing works, write to [email protected]. A person reads every message and answers, usually within a day or two.
Get in touch
Email is the way: [email protected]. If you're reporting a problem, a sentence about what you were doing when it happened helps a lot. Your iPhone model and iOS version help even more, and a screenshot is gold. Ideas and requests are welcome at the same address.
Common questions
Short answers below. For the long walk through the whole app, room by room, there's the Guide.
- Adding a book. Search by title or author, or scan the barcode on the back cover. Pick the result that matches your copy and it lands on your shelf.
- A wrong cover or edition. Open the book and choose Find the Right Book. You can pick the correct match, and the cover that belongs to your edition.
- Saving a line off the page. From a book, start a quote and point the camera at the page. Highlight the words you want and Folio brings them in as text, ready to keep.
- Recommending a book. Share a book and Folio makes a card and a link for the person you send it to. If they have Folio, the book is one tap from their shelf. If they don't, the link still shows them the book.
- Moving a book. Every book keeps a place in one of four rooms: Reading, On the Shelf, Finished, and Set Aside. Open the book to move it between them. You can also build rooms of your own, and a book can live in as many of those as you want.
- Where your reading lives. On your iPhone, and in your own iCloud, which keeps your library in sync so a new phone picks up where the old one left off. There's no Folio server holding a copy. The privacy policy says all of this in plain language.
No account, nothing to reset
Folio doesn't have accounts, so there's no password to forget and nothing to sign into. Your library belongs to you: it syncs through your own iCloud and travels with your iPhone backup like everything else you'd miss. Folio also keeps a daily backup of its own in your iCloud, and you can make one any time with Back Up Now in Data & Storage.
Privacy questions
How Folio handles your data is written down, briefly and in plain language, in the privacy policy. Anything it doesn't answer, ask us directly.
